Realms of Power is a new feature to the browser game NapWar. They already have something similar in Kingory, so maybe they got the inspiration from that game. Anyways, the Realms of Power cities will spring up on the map kinda random throughout the various Provinces on your NapWar server. There are four different types of these Realms of Power, that is town, fortress, provincial capital and royal capital. You can obtain a higher resources production and storage when you occupy one of these cities.

There are also other advantages to having one of these cities. You can improve your military rank and noble titles if you hold one of these realms of power cities. You can also levy gold, resources and tax other players in your region if you’re the lord of one of these capital cities. You need conquer a fortress and a provincial capital before you are able to conquer a royal capital. A royal capital can extend his resource production fields to level 18. Here is some more information about the realms of power cities taken from the NapWar homepage.

The Privileges of the Realms of Power are:

Once a player owns a Realm of Power city the players can issue decrees to other cities in their administrative area.

The upper limit for resource construction in Realms of Power can be increased to 12 (Town), 15 (Fortress), 18 (Provincial Capital).

Compared with regular cities, the Realms of Power’s upper limit of troop commitment is increased.

The upgrading rate is 25% for a Town, 50% a for Fortress and 10% for a Province.

The members of the alliance are entitled to get gold once per day if any member in the alliance has occupied the Realms of Power successfully. The amount of gold varies from the numbers of the Realms of Power cities and the level of those cities.

Players can upgrade their military rank or nobility title and explore new cities once owning a Realm of Power city.

The status of Realms of Power will always be “wartime”. Anyone can attack Realms of Power without declaring. However you can not change the name of the Realms of Power or relocate them. Truce and Vocation don’t work in Realms of Power.

A: Types

Levy Gold: To levy Gold from a specified city.

Levy People: To levy People from a specified city.

Levy Food: To levy Food from a specified city.

Conscription: To conscript soldiers of the largest number from city A to B.

Disarmament: To disarm soldiers of the largest number from a specified city.

B. Range

Fortress: Issue a decree to Towns or Cities in a province for a maximum of 4-6 times a day.

Provincial Capital: Issue a decree to Fortresses, Towns or Cities in a country for a maximum of 8 times a day.

Royal Capital: Issue a decree to any European city for a maximum of 10 times a day.

C.Times of Decrees can be issued

Players must reach a certain noble title to issue a decree privilege. According to the noble title, times of Decrees are different in each city .

Town: Earl 1 time, Marquis 2 times, Duke 3 times;

Fortress: Infante 4times, Prince 5 times, Archduke 6 times

Provincial Capital: Grand Duke 8 times

Royal Capital: Emperor 10 times

D. Privilege restriction

The government of the Realm of Power can issue this privilege after it reaches level 10th. Also a certain noble title is required.

Each city can be levied one time daily.

Decree cannot be issued to those cities of Newbie’s, Truce’s, and cities on vacation. Cities of Realms of Power are not under protection though.

E. Operation

Player clicks the city map to view the city. Players can click the menu and select the following operations: Levy gold, levy people, levy food, Conscription, Disarmament.

The NapWar items can be bought in the in game shop using coins. Coins you have to buy for real money from the billing page, unless you happen to win them in a promotion or something. 50 coins in NapWar cost $5 right now. When you buy coins anyone who recommended the game to you through a link will also benefit from it.

The most usefull thing to buy is probably the horseshoe, you get much better value bying these and getting lucky than to buy other items directly. With the new feature you can even get troops using these horseshoe coins, as well as lots of other cool items of course.

If you get treasure maps, make sure you don’t use them until you can manage to beat the troops in a level 10 wilderness. It really suck if you can not manage to kill the troops and get your prize, what a waste of coins. When it comes to treasure you can only dig up your own, not other players treasures. To get the treasure you have to occupy the location where the treasure is, gather for 1 hour and then pick it up.

One last thing, it is possible to get any type of item just from pillaging and occupying. This is cool, so you don’t have to spend money on the game if you don’t want to. However, it can take ages to get the item you want without going to the shop, so many people do it to speed things up.

Heroes are pretty important in NapWar and this post is a short guide to them. In Napoleonic War heros are used as military leaders in your cities as to attack and scout on other players and NPCs. The Heros of NapWar have several different attributes that affect different aspects of the game. Below you will find a list of hero attributes and what they do.

PH – Physical – Marching consume physical points. These points recover slowly and medicine can increase the recovery rate.
CMD – Command – This determines the amplyfying effect, effects 100 troops and 1000 soldiers.
OFS -	Offense – Amplifies siege by 1% for every 10 OFS. Hero weapons increase the OFS score.
SAL -	Salary – The amount of gold you have to pay the hero every hour.
TAL -	Talents – Every upgrade increases Talents by 1, and it’s used to increase officers attributes below. Every level increase gives you 1 additional talent points.
PLT -	Politics – Politics of mayor accelerates resource production, construction, and fortification of building by 1% per point.
CBP -	Combat Power – 1 Combat Power of mayor increases troop training speed by 1% and Offense by 10, and 3 Combat Power regain Officer’s Physical by 1.
SAG -	Sagacity – 1 Sagacity of Mayor increases research speed by 1% and Defense by 10. 3 Sagacity regain Officer’s Energy by 1.
ENG -	Energy – Applying stratagems lowers energy which recovers slowly, medicine can quicken rate.
SPD – Speed – Amplifies tempo of troops by 1% for every 1 SPD
DFS -	Defense – Amplifies guard by 1% for every 10 DFS. Equipment could increase DFS.
FDL -	Fidelity – Affects rate if mutiny or not, you can increase with items or gold.

There are three types of military officers, the mayor, the commander and the tactician. If you don’t have either a commander or a tactician the mayor vil act as such for both of them. This does not work the other way around so it’s important to always have at least a mayor appointed. The mayor increases the production rate of resources and also accelerates the speed of constructing buildings, walls and fortifications. The commander accelerates the speed of training troops. He is also important in defending a city under attack. The tactician speeds up your research.

Tomorrow on November the 23. the NapWar team says they will make the new battlefield feature available to their players. The battlefield feature is a new way that the battles in the game are played out. It makes battles much more strategic, for one you can choose which enemy units each of your own units will attack. From what I’ve heard there will be lots of other cool features too, I’m really looking forward to testing it out. Below is what the NapWar team is saying about this update.

The Battle of Toulon!

Starting on November 23, 2009, you can click on the battlefield feature at the top of your game page to enter this new and exciting Quest. You must be at the level of private or above, and use one pearl and one coral to enter the battlefield. You can undertake this Quest yourself or have team mates join you in this adventure. During this battle, you will move through a series of adventures that will challenge your playing skill, tactics, and ability as a military leader. You will face opponents that will challenge your skill, your wit, and your will to win! So make ready your forces! Muster the troops, load the muskets and sharpen your sabres for The Battle of Toulon!

It’s great that they are adding new servers often so that new players can start on a server where everyone is at about the same level. I’d recommend starting on the newest server whenever you want to start a new account.

Each of the servers has about 40,000 players, so it looks like the total number of players is about 100,000 now, assuming not too many players play on several servers. This is pretty good for a game that has only been out one month! I expect the game to be growing even more in future month and new interesting features to be added frequently. During Halloween they had a pretty cool event also, here is what they say about it at their website.

Once players around you run out of beginner protection you want to start raiding them, the weaker players that is. Inactive players without any army is what we hope to find, use scouts to check for this. I think everyone should upgrade their barracks to level two before they start raiding so that they get access to scouts. Intel is pretty important and saves you both a lot of time and helps you not getting too many troops killed.

Lets look at the first units. The basic unit is the peasant, and you need peasants to help you carry loot home when you raid someone. Carrying stuff is pretty much the only thing they are good at though, so you need other units to protect them. The basic offensive unit is the infantryman. Infantrymen are soldiers who are specifically trained for the role of fighting on foot to engage the enemy face to face, always suffer greater loss compared to other branches of the army services. They work well against other infantrymen as well as against scouts and peasants, so you should have some of these at the start.

Scouts are trained to move swiftly and perform reconnaissance duties, providing detailed geographic coordinate and military intelligence by submerging the enemy troops. These are your intel gatherers, they engage other scouts in combat though so you want to have more scouts than the guy you are trying to get intel on. Most small inactives won’t have scouts at all though, so you don’t really need that many early on.

Another unit you can train with barracks level 2 is the billman. Billmen, take shining hook-spear as powerful weapons, are considered to be elite force to terrify infantrymen, even knights, mentioned as being one of the main forces during the Hundred Year’s War. These units work very well against horse-mounted infantry. You won’t fight much mounted infantry early on though, so I’d recommend upgrading barracks to level 3 for the next unit.

The next unit would be the grenadier. Grenadiers are chosen for being the most physically powerful soldiers and would lead assaults in the field of battle. These units are very effective against all non-mounted infantry and you’ll want to train quite a few of these early on. Feel free to leave comments or questions, good luck with the raiding!

Signing up is pretty easy, you just choose your username and password and type in your email. You have to choose gender, but that only effects what your avatar will look like, there are several to choose from. You also get the option of choosing which part of the game map you want your first city in, doesn’t matter really, all the areas are pretty much the same.

Signing in for the first time there will be a few system messages in your inbox, nothing that important really. Getting startet from here is pretty easy, just follow the quests. You’ll see the quest icon on the bottom of the screen, click that and just follow what they tell you to do. Doing the quests is not just a good way to learn the game, it’s also the fastest way to grow from the start of the game. The reason is that you get really good rewards from most of the quests, sometimes you even get more resources and gold as a reward as what you spent doing the quests.

I suggest looking at the rewards when you’re doing the quests though, you’d want to do the quests that gives you the most resources as a reward compared to what you have to spend doing it. Doing the resource production quests early is also a good idea, so that you get your production started early. You don’t need any military the first few days since you will be under protection. Anyways, this is just a short intro, feel free to leave questions or comments.
